The University of Sargodha has launched an Interdisciplinary One Health initiative, integrating human, animal, and environmental health. Leveraging its existing departments in Animal Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences, UOS is uniquely equipped to encourage interdisciplinary research collaborations. The center initiatives align with the UNDP’s (sustainable development goals) of ensuring equitable access to healthcare, promoting innovation for cleaner environments, and building resilient communities. By focusing on diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance, and public health, the center directly supports UNDP’s broader goals of eradicating poverty, improving global health, and enhancing climate resilience. These efforts contribute to sustainable development and a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
Focusing on interdisciplinary approaches, we aim to carry out high quality scientific research that addresses policy-relevant topics related to animal production, human welfare and environmental health.
Translation is vital to One Health, converting complex scientific information into accessible formats for diverse stakeholders in human, animal, and environmental health. Effective translation ensures health interventions are understandable and actionable across different languages and cultures.
One Health is an integrated, unifying approach that recognizes the interconnection among the health of humans, animals, and ecosystems. It aims to sustainably balance and optimize health outcomes by promoting collaboration across various sectors and disciplines. The approach mobilizes multiple sectors, disciplines and communities at varying levels of society to work together to foster well-being and tackle threats to health and ecosystems, while addressing the collective need for clean water, energy and air, safe and nutritious food, taking action on climate change, and contributing to sustainable development.
Formation of the research team leads to basic themes; diagnostics and monitoring, antibiotic resistance, public health, climate resilience, and sustainable animal production systems; for research and continuous knowledge development across the globe.
